Talk That Talk to ME: Episode 3, Spice Up Your LIFE!
Today’s podcast, features Tre Spice. A roleplay powerhouse, a talented creator and a brilliantly triumphant friend. Tre has a resume longer than anyone else I know, including being star and co-producer of Family Hustle! Let’s get to it!
Kirby’s Intro: HELLO!! It’s I, Kirby J Lime and you are on the official third episode of my podcast, TALK THAT TALK TO ME!
I am here to remind us all that it’s important to have some fun, laugh a lot, expose some secrets, reveal some truths and maybe throw a little shade too, but mostly, this podcast is for you, the viewer. Thank you for being here.
Today we have none other than Tre Spice-Slovain! A friend of mine, someone I look to for advice and tips, someone who knows their way around this crazy community, and more importantly, someone who is aways reliable and true to themselves. A producer, cast member, powerful player and gorgeous soul, Tre! *claps*
Okay, so, go grab a snack, get a cup of tea and settle in. We have a lot to talk about!
Kirby: Tre! Welcome! I love you! Thank you for coming on to the podcast, I know you’re a busy busy person, so I appreciate it.
Tell me, and the people, how you got into role-play? You’re one of the first people to do it, right?!
Tre: Hello! *waves* Oh gosh! I actually got into role-play because of The Real Housewives of Youtube. I had briefly heard/saw about The Real Housewives of Twitter and then I received a message on my old personal account asking to be apart of this role-play series called, “The Real Housewives of YouTube.” I had no idea what I was doing or what I was signing up for but here I am all these years later. *laughs*
Kirby: Tell me what you like most about doing it, and what you like the least?
Tre: I like the creativity of it all! We can come up with stories and different things of that nature that you probably wouldn’t see on a real television show. Some of us really put our all into our storylines/characters and I think that’s good at the end of the day. We’re kinda like storytellers in a way. I also obviously like the graphics and that also ties into the creative aspect of it all. A lot of us have done well over the years in bringing the shows to life in a visual form in various ways and I enjoy that aspect too.
What I dislike about role-play and what I’ve always disliked since the beginning is the competition between some shows and some people. I’ve always hated that. When RHOYT first started, there was a page that was used to practically harass us and it wasn’t that serious. So that’s one thing I dislike and along with the cattiness and the drama. I’m no angel as I’ve participated and been in the mess myself but it’s supposed to be fun at the end of the day. It’s not supposed to be taken seriously.
Kirby: The competition of these shows got bad a couple years back, I think now we’re all super keen to ensure each show get’s it’s own time to shine. I like that, there’s no need to make it a competition, when everyone wants to watch all the shows.
One thing I would love more of, is, or what would be so cool, is if we have a few months a year where all the shows air at once, on different days.
OKAY. Next question. Give me all of the FH intel, I need to come and see you all at some point, you’re on fire girl!
Tre: *laughs* Season 6 of Family Hustle is a good season! It kinda reminds me of the earlier seasons if I’m honest. The cheating scandal with Ryan definitely had a massive effect on the group and you’ll see how that plays out. You’ll also get to see how some relationships evolve and how some relationships dissolve this season as well. We give you a bit of everything and there’s no shortage. It’s definitely an elevated and exciting season ahead.
You’re definitely more than welcome! You kinda look like my sister-in-law Frankie but two big asses is better than one! *laughs* I do enjoy when we have guest appearances from other shows. It’s always a fun time!
Kirby: Oop! I love me some Frankie, she’s a good time.
Tell me something about FH that not many people know?
Tre: I actually wasn’t going to be on Family Hustle initially!
After I did The Medical Misfit with Jocelyn, I was going to leave role-play but then Frankie & Courtney’s Family Hustle came about with Andy. I was playing so hard to get with Courtney & Frankie at first. They kept asking me repeatedly and I kept saying no but I eventually gave in and here I am six seasons later! *laughs* And outside of the show, we’re really all good friends and we really bounce off of each other with ideas and such!
I don’t think it’s a secret but Courtney and I produce FH since Christina stepped down after Season 3. Season 4 was my first time ever in a producing role and I understand how you producers feel. *laughs* Also, we almost went to C! after Andy stepped down but I think that’s a conflict of interest. *chuckles*
Kirby: Tre. C’mon. Give me the more tea now, why do you always decline a return to LoT! The people want you back, including me!
Tre: *laughs* I feel like I wasn’t that good of a “Lady of Twitter” to be honest. I was quite honestly all over the place and was really focused on the drama factor as opposed to showing the other aspects of my character. Drama is good but I feel like I overdid it. I’m embarrassed of my behavior in both seasons that I’ve starred in. *chuckles* I have been approached to join LoT in more recent seasons but I’m on Family Hustle now and I don’t think I would have anything to offer as a lady! I do enjoy my guest appearances here and there. *smiles*
Kirby: What do you love most about your show, Family Hustle?
I love the family aspect and how tight-knit the show is. Compared to be on an ensemble show, I would say we have bit more room to really showcase certain things. For example, if I were on another show, I may not be able to show the full aspect of the dynamic with my brothers because I’m on a show with 4–7 other people. *laughs* So in that aspect it’s nice and that I can somewhat control what’s happening and where I would like for my storyline to go. Another aspect I love is the male characters. Before Family Hustle, I don’t feel male characters were really involved or active in this setting like Ryan and KP were and boy did they take off and become kinda popular. You know the girls love some eye candy!
Kirby: How do you think you and I would fare on a show together again? I think we’d have a blast!
Girl! You almost beat my ass on a double decker in London! *laughs* I think we would do fine on a show together now. Whatever issues that happened in the past are in the past and we could end up being a new duo like Porsha and Kenya before Kenya’s untimely exit. *laughs*
Kirby: We had a ball back then, we’d have a bigger ball now I think. Okay… Give me your LEGENDS season 2 cast? Did you love that show? I did. That reunion should be aired girl… Why didn’t I finish that! *looks*
Tre: Legends was fun and I wish that reunion did air! If the amount was good, I might would do a second season! *laughs* I think either you or Tyler, Billie, Tanya, Sophie, Lauralie, Leah, Ellie, Erica, and Teairra would be a good cast! Maybe throw Kylee in the mix…as a friend. *laughs* Just those who participated on Ladies! I feel that’s a nice mixture of personalities right there.
Kirby: Do you have any role-play regrets?
Tre: I try not to live with regrets, but there are things I would do differently. I know everyone loves Tre as the character (or at least they say they love Tre as the character), but I feel my character as Tre really started to develop more in later years. So with that I feel like I’ve wasted some time when I probably should’ve left. With with all the shows I’ve been on, I’ve always been liked so there’s that. *laughs*
On the brighter side, I’ve gotten to meet new people and make some real friendships during my time on role-play. It’s also helped my editing skills a lot so thank you and Basketball Wives: Twitter for giving me my start with that. I definitely cringe looking back at some of my old work but you need to start somewhere!
Kirby: What is next for you? What are you working on?
Tre: There might be something happening soon or potentially in the future, hopefully. Fingers crossed! We’ll see what happens! As for now, my main focus is Family Hustle and making each season better, and developing our characters season after season!
Kirby: Tell me how you got so good at graphics. What is it about being creative in that way gets you excited or tingly!
Tre: Well I’ve always been a lover of graphics and visuals and doing role-play has certainly allowed me showcase and grow my skills! I cringe looking at some of my past work but practice makes perfect as you ultimately improve over time. I think showing people my vision with my work and them showing it love is most rewarding. I really can’t explain the process behind what I do honestly. *laughs* If I have a vision, I try my best to execute it to the best of my abilities. Though it can be very time-consuming, putting work out that everyone loves is rewarding.
Kirby: Do you have a question for me? *smiles*
Tre: Hmm… *thinks* Yes girl! What’s going on in your personal life? Do you have a little someone that’s making you happy? You watch the rest of us so let me get a little tea out of you! *laughs*
Kirby: *laughs* I got a boo, yep, I got a boo. You will have to meet him one day, or maybe, you will soon? I’ve got some ideas in the pipeline too *winks*
